4 April 2016:  Ransomware epidemic! Is anyone’s computer safe! Now major companies have been hit – hospitals, schools, government agencies, and corporations large and small. Protect your PC with this simple advice:

“It simply requires two things, a little common sense and a security software program that can keep up with the evolving ransomware threats.  First, many of these hackers invade your computer through a phishing attack.  So my best advice, think before you click.  Do you know the sender of that email?  No – delete.  Yes – Are you expecting something from this person?  No – follow up to make sure it’s truly from them.  Hackers are smart and can make anything look legitimate.

What is transcription?

A transcription is typing back word for word an audio recording file. Many recordings are currently recorded digitally by mobile phone, iPad, or digital recorder and can be forwarded on to us for transcribing into a readable format. In the past people used Tapes for recordings. We still have various tape recorders to handle different sized tapes ranging from Standard Cassettes, Micro tapes, Mini tapes.

How does it work? The recording is listened to by a Headset which is plugged into a PC or tape recorder. We listen first, pause the recording and type. Sometimes the audio can be typed straight while listening, depending on the flow of speech. The transcript still needs to be proof-read, checked and formatted to be emailed to you.

Types of speech:  We have transcribed all types of speech from people around the world in different situations, whether its in a court room, seminar, cafe, university lecture rooms, meeting rooms, outdoors, etc. The time taken to type these recordings back will depend on the clarity of the recording. Most noisy recordings can be transcribed, but it will take us a little longer to work on it.

Uploading an audio recording file:  Upload your file from SendThisFile or DropBox. If your file is upto 15 minutes in length, these files can be sent by email to xpressonline@bigpond.com. If file is 30 minutes and longer, send them through DropBox.

Transcribing:  Recordings are typed into a Word document, word for word, maintaining the flow of the conversation by the speaker. We don’t correct english, grammar or sentences. We maintain strictly what is being spoken. This is a true verbatim transcript . If the file needs to be edited for correct grammar or pronunciation of words, that also can be done at your request, which will need to be specified in your specific job request.

Costs:  The costs are affordable and we have a cost effective plan if you have a project over a period of time – 3 months, 6 months, 1  year or longer. We have worked on long term projects of upto 3 years. These plans are for Research Group interviews, Book manuscripts, regular medical reports, regular business dictation.

I look forward to helping you get your audio recordings transcribed at any time.

Best regards,

Mary
